OSHA Seeks to Improve Wind Industry Safety

Taking steps to strengthen safety standards in the wind industry, OSHA employees participated in a two-day training program.

In conjunction with Suzlon Wind Energy Corp. and the American Wind Energy Association, OSHA is training its employees in the aspects of safety in the wind energy industry. With its Wind Response Team, OSHA looks to respond to incidents that occur specifically in this industry, specifically in and around wind turbines.

Forty OSHA employees attended a two-day training sessionwith Suzlon and AWEA. The program was hosted by Suzlon at it’s facility in Elgin, Ill.

Attendees were informed on working from heights and subsequent issues such as falls and rescues, permit-related confined space entry and energy isolation.
