Recalled CO Alarms Still Concerning Northern Ireland Authorities
Sensor Safe LTD alerted HSENI and local councils in April of a problem with the Sensor Safe Carbon Monoxide Alarm SF80190, and it was pulled from shelves and recalled. About 300 remain unaccounted for.
Four months after authorities in Northern Ireland issued alert notices that a home carbon monoxide alarm had been recalled, agencies including the Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland (HSENI) are reminding consumers again about the problem. Sensor Safe LTD alerted HSENI and local councils in April of a potential safety issue with the Sensor Safe Carbon Monoxide Alarm SF80190, and one local council, the Carrickfergus Borough Council, announced this month that 303 of them remain unaccounted for after being purchased in Northern Ireland.
Tests confirmed the alarms may not detect levels of carbon monoxide, so they were removed from shelves, quarantined, and the company recalled them, according to HSENI's latest notice, which said the alarms were supplied throughout Northern Ireland.
Anyone who still has one of the alarms should stop using it immediately and return it to the location where it was purchased.
HSENI is an executive Non-Departmental Public Body sponsored by the Northern Ireland Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment. HSENI is the lead body responsible for promotion and enforcement of health and safety at work standards in Northern Ireland and works with 26 District Councils.
