OR-OSHA Adopting HCS 2012 in September
The agency will take comments until Sept. 12.
Oregon OSHA has a public hearing set for Sept. 5 to adopt the OSHA revised Hazard Communication standard, HCS 2012, which harmonizes with the UN's GHS standard. OSHA has called its final rule the "Right to Understand," distinguishing it from the Right to Know HazCom Standard that has been in place since 1983.
OR-OSHA has scheduled a public hearing for Sept. 5 at its Salem, Ore., headquarters. The agency's comment period will close Sept. 12, and it expects to adopt the federal standard by Sept. 26.
The rule adopted by the state agency will repeal three Oregon rules that apply to caution labels and hazard communication. For more information, contact Dave McLaughin at 503-947-7457 or [email protected].
