Today's Live-Tweeting: Library of Congress Stress Conference

Having made the list of Time's 140 best Twitter feeds of 2012, the library invites its 300,000+ followers to "see the latest in stress research and join the conversation" March 26-27.

The Library of Congress' John W. Kluge Center is presenting a two-day conference, "The Profound Impact of Stress: Human Biology and Social Implications for the Individual and Society," March 26-27, and its staff will be live-tweeting the event both days beginning at 8:30 a.m. EDT, as befits an organization named to Time magazine's "The 140 Best Twitter Feeds of 2012."

Lots of famous people and politicians made the list. The Library of Congress and the U.S. Census Bureau were the only two federal agencies on it, however.

The conference is open to the public and will take place in room 119 of the Thomas Jefferson Building. To follow LOC on Twitter, @LibraryCongress, and use the hashtags #stressimpact #klugectr to see the latest in stress research and join the conversation about the conference.

The conference has been organized by Dr. George Chrousos, a former Kluge Center Chair of Technology and Society and an internationally known researcher and expert on stress; and Dr. Philip Gold, a member of the library’s Scholars Council who has been at the National Institutes of Health Clinical Center since 1974. Additional participants include:

  • Dr. Fabrizio Benedetti, professor of neurophysiology and human physiology at the University of Turin Medical School and at the National Institute of Neuroscience in Italy
  • Carolyn Brown, Ph.D., director of the Office of Scholarly Programs at the Library of Congress
  • Dr. Daniel J. Clauw, professor of anesthesiology, medicine, and psychiatry at the University of Michigan
