Coast Guard Offshore Safety Panel Meeting April 11-12
The National Offshore Safety Advisory Committee's meeting in New Orleans will be open to the public.
Items including medical evacuation of injured divers and a review of the Mississippi Canyon Incident Reports about the Deepwater Horizon explosion and spill are on the agenda for an April 11-12 meeting of the U.S. Coast Guard's National Offshore Safety Advisory Committee (NOSAC). The meeting at the Renaissance New Orleans Arts Hotel, 700 Tchoupitoulas St., will be open to the public.
NOSAC subcommittees will meet the first day, with the full committee meeting April 12 to consider the subcommittees' reports and recommendations, with public comments accepted at the end of the day.
The committee's members will discuss recent Coast Guard regulations affecting the offshore industry and will hear an update from the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) on the status of its Deepwater Horizon recommendations. They also will discuss commercial diving casualty statistics and an analysis of worker casualties from operations on the Outer Continental Shelf, with a discussion item included about the Safety and Environmental Management Systems (SEMS) joint regulatory effort by the Coast Guard and BSEE.
