Multiple Injuries in Cincinnati Casino Floor's Collapse

Online reports filed from the scene indicate about 20 people were injured, including at least nine with serious injuries who were taken to University Hospital.

As many as 20 workers were injured Friday morning when a beam fell as a concrete floor was being poured, causing that floor to collapse, at the downtown Cincinnati site where a new, $400 million casino is under contruction, according to reports posted by the Cincinnati Enquirer and several other major newspapers providing coverage. The Enquirer's Carrie Whitaker reported 10 injured workers were taken to University Hospital. Nine of them suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries, according to her report.

Her report says OSHA and Cincinnati Fire personnel are investigating the scene. The casino is being built by four companies hired by casino developer Rock G Southwest Gaming: Messer Construction Co., D.A.G. Construction Co. Inc., Jostin Construction, and TriVersity Construction Group, Whitaker reported.

The hospital is well known. It opened in 1823 as the country's first teaching hospital.
