Miami-Dade Crime Lab, 16 Others Join ANSI
The list of new members that joined in December also includes the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office and the American Society of Plumbing Engineers.
The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) welcomed 17 new member companies in December 2011. They include catastrophe risk modeling firm RMS, the Miami-Dade Police Department's Crime Lab Bureau and the Iowa DCI Crime Laboratory, Oconomowoc, Wis.-based plastic pallet and container maker Orbis Corporation, and Bechtel National, a Frederick, Md.-based unit of Bechtel Corp. that is a large government contractor.
Other new members include the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, the American Society of Plumbing Engineers, Lear Corporation, Steelcase Inc., the University of Kentucky, BASF, and Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Michigan. ANSI says it represents more than 125,000 companies and "well over 3.5 million professionals." It is a leader in standards activity worldwide.
"Active participation in ANSI and its programs can serve as both a strategic and tangible asset for an organization," said Brian Meincke, ANSI's senior director of membership development, membership marketing, and industry outreach. "Not only will they gain access to information and business intelligence that is not available elsewhere, but they will also receive discounts on many products and services. Equally important, they can build relationships that empower them with a voice and influence over the standardization and conformity assessment decisions that directly affect their business."
