Hospital Renovation Earns MNSHARP Construction Honors
McGough Construction has been working on the $225 million, multi-phase project at St. Cloud Hospital since 2007 and has accumulated almost 1 million hours with no lost-time incidents, according to Minnesota OSHA.
A project of St. Paul, Minn.-based McGough Construction was welcomed as a Minnesota Safety and Health Achievement Recognition Program Construction work site during a Dec. 19 ceremony at the St. Cloud Hospital site in St. Cloud, Minn. The Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry said the hospital site is one of just three current certified MNSHARP Construction work sites statewide.
"We congratulate McGough for its outstanding safety and health performance to reach this milestone," said Ken Peterson, commissioner of the Minnesota Department of Labor and Industry. "From the project's beginning, our combined goal has been worker safety, and we are pleased to reward McGough for its efforts to bring workers home safely each day."
McGough Construction has been working on the $225 million, multi-phase project at St. Cloud Hospital since 2007 and has accumulated almost 1 million hours with no lost-time incidents, according to Minnesota OSHA, which runs the MNSHARP Construction program. It recognizes major construction companies where managers and employees work together to develop safety and health programs that result in immediate and long-term prevention of injuries and illnesses. Only construction projects lasting at least 18 months are eligible.
The renovation of St. Cloud Hospital is scheduled to be completed in July 2013. It is the flagship of CentraCare Health System. The department said MNOSHA consultants conducted 30 site visits to help McGough set up the site's safety and health program. "This recognition is the direct result of a comprehensive commitment to safety," said Tim McGough, executive vice president of McGough Construction. "St. Cloud Hospital has, from our very first meeting, been unwavering in their requirement that safety be the highest priority. We are proud of our partnership with the hospital and wish to thank everyone at CentraCare, all workers involved in the project, and everyone at Minnesota OSHA for their intense commitment to a safe workplace."
