Weigel, product manager – services marketing for Schneider Electric, has more than 40 years' experience in the electrical industry in the United States and China. He works for Square D Services in Nashville as product manager for its arc flash awareness program. He has written and published more than 90 articles in electrical industry publications on strategies to mitigate arcing faults in electrical distribution equipment and has lectured extensively in North America and Australia to increase awareness for these new safety standards and requirements.
Weigel's presentation will focus on the potential damage to equipment and danger to workers from arcing faults. He'll share statistics about the injuries and fatalities resulting from them and will discuss warning labels, methods for determining arc flash hazard levels, and recent changes in the NFPA 70E 2009 edition and the 2008 National Electric Code.
