Aetna Expands Ohio Network
The network includes 289 hospitals and 33,530 primary care and specialist physicians to serve about 1.1 million Aetna members in the state.
Aetna and Holzer Clinic agreed on a contract that makes the multi-specialty clinic an Aetna network provider. The contract took effect Sept. 15. Holzer has more than 140 board-certified physicians practicing in more than 30 areas of expertise at 12 locations in southeast Ohio.
"We are thrilled to have Holzer Clinic in our network, especially since Holzer Health System, including Holzer Medical Center, is already a part of our network of providers. This will be tremendous news for Aetna members in southeast Ohio," said Jay Timm, who is president of Aetna's Ohio market.
Aetna's news release said it provides health benefits to approximately 1.1 million members in Ohio who have access to an Ohio network of 289 hospitals and 33,530 primary care and specialist physicians. Aetna has more than 1,500 employees in the state, as well as an operations center that processes claims and provides customer service to Aetna members around the country.
Aetna serves about 36.5 million people with health insurance products and related services, including medical, pharmacy, dental, behavioral health, group life, and disability plans, and medical management capabilities and health care management services for Medicaid plans. Its customers include employer groups, individuals, college students, part-time and hourly workers, health plans, governmental units, government-sponsored plans, labor groups, and expatriates.
