3M's Occupational Health & Environmental Safety Division (OHESD) on July 5 announced the names of the four students chosen to receive $5,000 scholarships through the company's 25th annual Industrial Hygiene Scholarship Program.
The winners are:
- Julia Varshavsky, University of California, Berkeley
- Susan Thompson, University of Oklahoma, Oklahoma City
- Evan Floyd, University of Alabama, Birmingham
- Alexandra Rodionova, University of California, Berkeley
The program recognizes graduate students for high academic achievement, contribution to the profession, and their intent to pursue industrial hygiene careers. The winners were chosen by a selection committee 3M OHESD management and 3M corporate industrial hygienists.
"Evaluating this year's candidates was extremely challenging. We are continually impressed with the quality of applicants and submissions each year," said Nicole Vars McCullough, Ph.D., CIH, who is 3M Technical Service and Regulatory Affairs manager and a winner of a 3M industrial hygiene scholarship in 1994.
3M sponsored the winners' attendance at the 2011 American Industrial Hygiene Conference & Exposition in Portland, Ore. For more information about the scholarship program, visit 3M.com/OccSafety/IHScholarship.
