Rail Research Center Chooses Engineer as President
The Transportation Technology Center Inc., a world-renowned research and test facility used by freight and passenger railroads, will have a new president later this year.
Directors of the Transportation Technology Center Inc. have appointed Lisa Stabler as president of the organization effective Oct. 7, when Roy A. Allen retires after a 40-year career with TTCI. Located in Pueblo, Colo., TTCI is a subsidiary of the Association of American Railroads (AAR).
Currently, Stabler is TTCI's vice president of operations and training. She joined from BNSF Railway, where she was assistant vice president of quality and reliability engineering.
AAR announced June 3 that Laurie Knight will join the association as senior vice president of government affairs, effective July 25. She succeeds Hubert "Obie" O'Bannon, also retiring after 23 years with AAR. "Laurie has a tremendous understanding of how to effectively represent a complex industry before key decision makers in Washington," said AAR President and CEO Edward R. Hamberger. "We wish Obie the best in his retirement, following an incredibly distinguished career representing railroads on Capitol Hill."
Knight previously was executive vice president of government affairs at the National Association of Broadcasters and, before that, was director of government affairs for the National Beer Wholesalers Association. She is a graduate of the Pepperdine University School of Law and a member of the State Bars of Texas and California.
