JCR Hosting Hospital Emergency Preparedness Conference

The April 27-28 event in Arlington, Va. administrators meet The Joint Commission's hospital accreditation standards and develop effective collaborative plans for emergency events.

Presentations about preparedness for active shooter events, surge events, pandemics and H1N1 influenza, hospital fires, and the rising level of violence in health care facilities are on tap at the April 27-28 Emergency Preparedness 2011 conference being held by Joint Commission Resources. The event will help hospital administrators meet The Joint Commission's hospital accreditation standards, which require that they identify potential emergencies and develop appropriate plans that address the four phases of emergency management activities: mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery.

The event will take place at the Marriott Crystal Gateway in Arlington, Va.

The conference theme, "Collaboration, Continuity and Community," will provide a forum for faculty and attendees to share their organizations' emergency operation plans and best practices. The plenary sessions include a panel of hospital, non-hospital, and community representatives discussing a model of a successful collaborative plan.
