2010 Drive Safely Work Week Reached 20 Million Workers
Nearly 5,000 public and private organizations downloaded the electronic tool kit for this year's week, which was sponsored by the Network of Employers for Traffic Safety in partnership with DOT.
This year's Drive Safely Work Week (Oct. 4-8, 2010) campaign was a big success, with 20.2 million workers reached -- or 12.5 percent of the total U.S. workforce, the Network of Employers for Traffic Safety (NETS) announced in its monthly e-newsletter dated Dec. 16.
NETS sponsored DSWW 2010 in partnership with the U.S. Department of Transportation. According to NETS, 4,690 unique organizations downloaded the electronic tool kit, and 88 percent of them have or expect to have a cell phone policy in place within the next 12 months. Among the 3,067 organizations that currently have a policy in place, 37 percent said they restrict the use of both hand-held and hands-free mobile devices, while 62 percent have policies restricting use of hand-held devices only.
The campaign tool kit is still available at www.trafficsafety.org.
