DOT Video Series Personalizes Distracted Driving's Cost
The "Faces of Distracted Driving" series announced Nov. 16 by Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood features people who have been injured or lost loved ones because of distracted driving accidents.
U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood introduced a new video series named "Faces of Distracted Driving" to personalize the damage caused by this problem. DOT says almost 5,500 people died and 500,000 were injured in crashes related to distracted driving last year.
The videos feature people who have been injured or lost loved ones because of distracted driving accidents. Three were posted initially, and a new one will be added every few weeks, LaHood said on DOT's Fast Lane blog.
He invited the public to share stories, post videos on YouTube, and then e-mail the link to [email protected].
