October is National Sudden Cardiac Arrest Month

This time it's significant for emergency responders and CPR instructors because the American Heart Association and the European Resuscitation Council will issue their 2010 Guidelines for resuscitation on Oct. 18.

The first October issue of Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report, a CDC publication, includes a reminder that October is National Sudden Cardiac Arrest Awareness Month. October 2010 will be especially significant for emergency responders and CPR instructors because the American Heart Association and the European Resuscitation Council will issue their 2010 Guidelines for resuscitation on Oct. 18.

Eagerly awaited by first responders, CPR trainers, and AED manufacturers, the new guidelines result in updated training materials, courses, and conferences that will begin next month with AHA's 2010 Guidelines for CPR & ECC Instructor Conference (Nov. 12, Chicago). After that are ERC's Resuscitation 2010 Congress (Dec. 2-4, Porto, Portugal) and ECCU 2010 (Dec. 8-11, San Diego).

For information about sudden cardiac arrest, visit the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute's website. CPR information is available at this AHA website.
