Virtually Yours: ASSE's Petroleum Safety Symposium
A solid lineup of speakers and sessions cover offshore and land operational safety lessons from Kleen Energy, BP, and other accidents, and more Sept. 21-23.
A number of experts are participating as speakers in ASSE's Sept. 21-23 online symposium about safety in the oil and gas industry, which is well timed given enforcement actions and major spills and accidents this year. "Safety in the Petroleum Industry" will include presentations about preventing slips and falls, fall protection risk assessment, natural gas purges and safe ways to clean gas piping, overall safety management, and emergency response.
Presenters include OH&S "Breakthrough Strategies" columnist Robert Pater, presenting at 11 a.m. Central on Sept. 21 about preventing slips and falls in the industry; fall protection experts Thomas Kramer, PE, CSP, and Nolan Miller, PE, CSP, of LJB Inc.; Ellen Clas, CIH, CSP, of Clas Consulting LLC; Ashok Garlapati, Senior HSE Specialist (E&PD) with Kuwait Oil Company; and several others. Mark Hansen, a former ASSE president who is vice president of Environmental & Safety at energy company Range Resources, will present the welcome and keynote speech at 9 a.m. Central on Sept. 21
