Motor Carrier Fatigue Recommendations Coming Soon
An advisory committee to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration will hear from international experts two weeks from now, then write recommendations to be delivered in December.
Experts on fatigue management and government officials from Australia, Canada, Mexico, and the United States will be in Alexandra, Va., Aug. 30 to Sept. 1 participating in a three-day meeting of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration's Motor Carrier Safety Advisory Committee Meeting. The international attendees will be explaining how they address fatigue among commercial motor vehicle operators on their roads. The advisory committee is scheduled to use this input and studies done in the United States and Canada to recommend fatigue management actions to Anne Ferro, FMCSA's administrator, at its December 2010 meeting.
The meeting is open to the public and will begin at 8:30 a.m. each day at the Hilton Alexandria Old Town, which is across the street from the King Street Metrorail Station.
Public comments can be made during the last hour of each day's meeting, and written comments can be submitted through today, Aug. 18, via www.regulations.gov (Docket Number FMCSA-2010-0143).
