This Month's Expo Set to Break All-Time Record

The American Society of Safety Engineers says its 2010 Exposition that will be held June 13-15 at the Baltimore Convention Center in Maryland in conjunction with its annual Professional Development Conference (June 13-16) is the largest ever in the number of exhibitors and square feet sold since the society began holding the annual PDC in 1968. The numbers ASSE is reporting for the event, as of the deadline of this e-newsletter -- 400 exhibitors who have reserved more than 62,100 net square feet -- make for an all-time record. At last year's exposition, held in San Antonio, 56,150 square feet were used.

The exposition is open to PDC attendees as part of their registration. Those in the industry not attending the PDC can visit the exposition for a one-day fee of $95 either Monday, June 14, or Tuesday, June 15, from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The ASSE exposition features Fortune 100 and 500 companies, federal agencies, non-profit organizations such as the American Red Cross, colleges, and much more. Many are launching new products and providing interactive exhibits. The products and services on display will include respirators; hearing, head, eye, and face protection; welding products; fall protection; air monitoring; sorbent materials; gas detection; gloves and shoes; lab safety products; electrical safety; safety training; technology communications; signage; driver safety systems; green products and services; arc flash protective clothing; dielectric footwear; insulated tools; portable fall protection; spill containment; hazardous materials storage; crane safety; the LiftPod; ergonomic designs; and much more. The platform is designed to offer invaluable interaction among the companies and industry practitioners -- the actual users and implementers of the products, programs, training, and other services being offered.

The PDC portion of Safety 2010, which runs from June 13 – 16, will feature more than 200 educational sessions on all areas of occupational safety, health, and the environment; leadership and management; an executive summit; and several keynote speakers including OSHA chief Dr. David Michaels. According to ASSE, thousands of people from more than 38 countries are scheduled to attend this year's event.
