'2-Minute Drill' Safety Videos Purring Along

Year One of the monthly series from the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries, Inc.'s safety program topped 10,000 online views internationally, Transportation Safety Director Thomas D. Herod said.

The "2 Minute Drill" driver safety videos created by the safety program of the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries, Inc. continue to please ISRI's member companies. As the calendar turned over to 2010, Thomas D. Herod, ISRI's Transportation Safety director, said the monthly video series had exceeded 10,000 online views internationally.

Herod said the series, featuring an actor named Joe Hansard (JoeHansard.com), was launched because driver accidents, injuries, and vehicle damage at the 1,500 member companies of ISRI rose from 2002 and 2008. ISRI mails a DVD compilation to its 3,400 member locations every quarter.

Members responded strongly as soon as the program began, and the international exposure has been a big benefit, Herod said last week. He credited 522 Productions in Alexandria, Va., and Hansard for providing "innovative, entertaining, creative and cost-effective products and delivery options."

ISRI represents companies in the United States and 30 other countries that process, broker, and industrially consume scrap commodities, including ferrous and nonferrous metals, paper, electronics, rubber, plastics, glass, and textiles. Associate members provide services and equipment to the scrap recycling industry.
