OSHA Seeks FACOSH Nominations

The committee's 16 members advise the secretary of Labor on all occupational safety and health matters related to federal employees.

OSHA is accepting nominations for membership on its Federal Advisory Council on Occupational Safety and Health (FACOSH), whose charter the secretary of Labor renewed on Nov. 6, 2009. Submitted nominations must be postmarked, transmitted, or received by Feb. 12, 2010.

To submit one that is identified by Docket No. OSHA-2009-0038, visit www.regulations.gov, fax it to the OSHA Docket Office at 202-693-1648, or mail it (three copies) to OSHA Docket Office, Docket No. OSHA-2009-0038, Room N-2625, U.S. Department of Labor, 200 Constitution Ave. NW, Washington, DC 20210 (phone 202-693-2350, TTY number 877-889-5627).

FACOSH advises the secretary of Labor on all occupational safety and health matters related to federal employees. The committed has 16 members -- half represent federal agencies, while the other half represent unions of federal employees -- who are appointed to terms not exceeding three years by the secretary, and it is chaired by the OSHA assistant secretary -- currently, David Michaels, Ph.D.

These nominations are to fill five vacancies that occurred during 2009 and five that will occur in 2010. The 2009 appointments will be for two years, while the 2010 ones will be for three years. FACOSH usually meets between two to six times annually.
