Maine Farm Laborers Honored at DOL Headquarters

A photographic exhibit on display until Dec. 2 includes work by labor photojournalist Earl Dotter and highlights the work of Maine’s farmworkers and migrant workers.

The U.S. Department of Labor's headquarters building in Washington, D.C., is hosting a photographic exhibit that showcases the labors of Maine farmworkers and migrant workers. The exhibit includes interviews with berry, vegetable, and dairy farmworkers, according to DOL's latest e-newsletter.

Titled "Farmworkers Feed Us All," the exhibit will highlight the department's "interest and commitment to workers in this high-risk, low-wage working population," the newsletter item states. The exhibit includes photos from labor photojournalist Earl Dotter, whose work has been showcased at several major safety conferences in recent years.

Sponsored by OSHA, the exhibit "illustrates the dedication and hard work of farmworkers, as well as the important role DOL plays in protecting and improving the safety and health of these often invisible workers," according to DOL.
