Aerosol Manufacturer Settles Hazwaste Charges, Agrees to $30K Penalty

U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Region 5 in Chicago has reached an agreement with Bridgeview Aerosol LLC for alleged violations of federal and state regulations on hazardous waste. The Bridgeview, Ill.-based manufacturer of various automotive and household aerosol products has agreed to pay a penalty of $30,000.

According to Bridgeview's Web site, the company offers a comprehensive portfolio of services including initial product formulation, testing, manufacturing, packaging, and distribution. Additionally, it says it uses "the latest high performance aerosol under-the-cap pressure filling equipment" and provides a variety of propellants.

The company was cited for violating Resource Conservation and Recovery Act requirements for treating, managing, and disposing of hazardous waste, including failure to mark, label, and keep hazardous waste containers closed; and comply with training, monitoring, inspection, and recording requirements.

Under RCRA, EPA regulates hazardous waste from production to final disposal.
