AAPD Seeks Nominees for 2010 Hearne Award

The American Association of People with Disabilities (AAPD) is now accepting applications for the 2010 Paul G. Hearne Award, which recognizes and honors emerging leaders within the national cross-disability civil rights movement. The application deadline is Oct. 1.

Each year, AAPD selects up to two individuals whose work, life, and passion mirrors the life and legacy of Hearne, a pioneer, advocate, activist, and national leader for people with disabilities. Award recipients will each receive $10,000 to help them continue their progress as leaders. They also will have an opportunity to meet and network with national disability leaders at the AAPD Leadership Gala in Washington, D.C., in March. U.S. residents with any type of disability are eligible to apply.

To apply for the award, download the application at www.aapd.com/DMD/2010HearneAwardApplicationInstructions.doc, complete it electronically, and submit it as an attachment via email to [email protected]. Questions about the award can be e-mailed to the same address, or call 1-800-840-8844.
