HFES Readies National Ergonomics Month Plans

The society is inviting events and contest entries as it prepares to mark NEM 2009 during its 53rd Annual Meeting, which will take place Oct. 19-23 in San Antonio. Shown here is the society's NEM logo.

Only two events were listed as of Monday on the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society's National Ergonomics Month site. But there's still time for a local or student chapter or individual member to submit an event and to enter the 2009 NEM Best Action Plan Contest by sending a Word file listing contact information, participants' names, title and description of the plan, timeline, goals, and target audience to [email protected]. The deadline for entries is Sept. 1.

Awards will be presented to the best individual, local chapter, and student chapter action plan during HFES' 53rd Annual Meeting, which will take place Oct. 19-23 at San Antonio's Grand Hyatt Hotel. The meeting's program includes an NEM session from 4:45 to 6:15 p.m. on Oct. 19.

The July 2009 HFES Bulletin includes results of the society's 2009 salary and compensation survey; details of the two half-day annual meeting workshops that will available via webcast (visit this page for details), which will be a first for HFES; the candidate slate for 2009 officer and at-large executive council member elections, for which ballots are due by Aug. 3; an request for applications to be the new editor of the HFES journal Ergonomics in Design (call 310-394-1811 or e-mail [email protected]); and an explanation by Treasurer Andrew S. Imada of the recently approved $1.4 million HFES operating budget, which projects a deficit of about $80,000.
