Obesity 'Crisis' Conference Set by CDC
The Weight of the Nation Conference taking place July 27-29 will explore best practices and strategies for primary prevention in workplaces, schools, and medical care.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced Monday that its Division of Nutrition, Physical Activity, and Obesity will host the inaugural Weight of the Nation Conference later this month to address the nation's obesity crisis, in CDC's words. The conference is intended to bring together elected and appointed public policy makers, public health leaders, and researchers and others involved in obesity prevention and control. The event will take place July 27-29 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel in Washington, D.C.
The announcement at www.weightofthenation.org says the conference will highlight strategies that overcome barriers to the primary prevention of obesity in workplaces, communities, medical care, and schools. It also will provide economic analysis of obesity prevention and control efforts, such as the cost obesity presents to health care system and employers and the cost effectiveness of prevention.
The hotel is located at 2500 Calvert Street NW, Washington, DC 20008.
