ACGIH Offers 2009 Guide to Occupational Exposure Values

Now available from ACGIH®, the 2009 Guide to Occupational Exposure Values is a readily accessible reference for comparison of the most recently published values, including the 2009 Chemical Substance TLVs® from ACGIH; AIHA Workplace Environmental Exposure Limits (WEELs); the OSHA Final Rule PELs; RELs from NIOSH; MAKs from the German Commission for the Investigation of Health Hazards of Chemical Compounds in the Workplace; and carcinogenicity designations from ACGIH, OSHA, NIOSH, MAK, IARC, U.S. NTP, and U.S. EPA. The 224-page volume (ACGIH Publication #0387, ISBN: 978-1-882417-96-4) includes a CAS number index and serves as a valuable companion document to the ACGIH® Threshold Limit Values and Biological Exposure Indices book.

The guide is priced at $69.95, with 10 percent off for ACGIH members and quantity discounts available. For information and ordering, go to www.acgih.org and click on the "Products" tab.

Among other offerings also available at the site is the 7th edition of the Documentation of the TLVs® and BEIs®, which provides the basic rationale for the development of TLVs® for chemical substances and physical agents and of BEIs® for selected chemicals. This latest edition now comes in a more user-friendly five-volume format and includes these specific new features:

· An up-front summary of each chemical substance, similar to the abstract of scientific papers published in journals. This summary brings together the principal points upon which the TLV® is based and cites the potential health risks that the TLV® is designed to minimize.

  • History tables showing the history of values for each agent (new for the BEIs® and physical agents TLVs®; reformatted for the chemical substance TLVs®).
  • More complete and up-to-date Introductions to the chemical substance TLVs®, BEIs®, and physical agents TLVs®.

The Documentation (ACGIH Publication #0100Doc, ISBN: 978-1-882417-43-8) includes 2002-2009 supplements.
