Visit 'CareerAdvantage' Development Fair for Résumé Help, Speed Networking

As part of AIHce 2009, the American Industrial Hygiene Association is conducting its 2009 CareerAdvantage Development Fair through tomorrow (June 3), from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The three-day employment event began yesterday.

Sponsored by the AIHA Career and Employment Services Committee, this year's Building Careers for Life development fair features sessions designed to help those in the occupational and environmental health and safety (OEHS) field advance their current careers and find and maintain positions in the industry. The CareerAdvantage Development Fair also provides an opportunity for employers and OEHS professionals to mingle and make important contacts.

The development fair is designed to offer employers and recruiters the tools to find ideal candidates to fill valuable positions. According to AIHA, through the CareerAdvantage Development Fair Package, those searching for qualified personnel can:

  • Access hundreds of IH and EHS résumés
  • Post up to three job listings on the main CareerAdvantage Web site (http://careeradvantage.aiha.org/rates.cfm) until June 30, 2009
  • Select candidates before attending the development fair in Toronto for on-site interviews in a complimentary interview booth (based on availability)
  • Network with OEHS professionals and other recruiters

Job seekers receive career counseling, free résumé postings, access to job listings, on-site interviewing, and networking. Today and tomorrow from 8 a.m. to noon and again from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., on-site Résumé Critiquing and Improvement workshops will take place, designed to give attendees helpful feedback on the appearance, style, length, focus, and content of their resumes from an experienced hiring manager. Contact AIHA at (703) 849-8888 to schedule a résumé-critiquing session in advance.

Additionally, attendees who post their résumés online at www.AIHACareerAdvantage.org can set up on-site interviews with employers or recruiters who have contacted them.

A bonus feature added to this year's development fair is an hour of Speed Networking offered today from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.
