Spokane Safety Event Brings Safety Leaders Together
The latest workplace safety and health information will be showcased at the Region X VPPPA Conference, scheduled for May 19-21, 2009 at the Davenport Hotel and Tower in Spokane, WA.
The Voluntary Protection Programs Participants’ Association (VPPPA) is the leading organization dedicated to cooperative occupational safety, health, and environmental management systems through cooperative efforts among employees, management, and government. VPPPA is a member-based association, providing a network of more than 1,900 companies and work sites that are involved in or are in the process of applying to OSHA's or the Department of Energy’s (DOE) Voluntary Protection Programs (VPP), and government agencies that are developing or implementing cooperative recognition programs.
Session tracks featured at this year's conference include:
- VPP Basics - a review of the 19 VPP elements
- Technical - hazard recognition, OSHA standards
- Continuous improvement - leadership, change, and transition
- Safety 24/7 - wellness, vehicle safety, and maintaining a drug-free workplace
Keynote speaker Vince Lombardi Jr. will present "Coaching for Teamwork" on Wednesday, May 20, at the conference. Lombardi Jr. is the son of the late Vince Lombardi, the legendary former football coach of the Green Bay Packers. Lombardi Jr.'s early years were spent in an atmosphere full of personal power and achievement. Armed with honesty, integrity, and authenticity, virtues he places above all others, Lombardi Jr. earned a law degree and maintained a private practice while serving in the Minnesota legislature.
