HFES 2009 Annual Meeting Presentations Due Feb. 23

Presentation proposals are due by Feb. 23, 2009, for the 53rd Annual Meeting of the Human Factors and Ergonomics Society, which will take place Oct. 19-23, 2009, in San Antonio at the Grand Hyatt San Antonio hotel. Accept/reject letters will be sent to the authors by April 17; proceedings papers will be due by June 22, and Sept. 7 is the deadline for early registration for the meeting.

HFES announced the dates this month in its Call for Proposals and said it seeks "creative proposals for program materials of all kinds" in "new and alternative formats." Case studies, debates, demonstrations, on-site experiments, new methodologies, posters, and competitive product designs were mentioned. Proposals also are invited for the Student Forum Sessions, created to encourage student development and support.

The best student paper receives $1,000 cash and a certificate for winning the Alphonse Chapanis Best Student Paper Award; to be eligible, the first author of the paper must be a student, and the work presented must be primarily the work of that student author.

Proposals must be submitted online and must meet the requirements laid out in the society’s Call for Proposals.
