Drug-Free Work Week Starts Today
If DOL is right, America should experience fewer accidents and more safe workplaces this week. That, in any case, is one of the goals of the annual Drug-Free Work Week, which starts today and is being observed officially through Oct. 26. Held every October, the public awareness campaign highlights the importance of working drug free to prevent accidents, improve productivity, and reduce costs while also encouraging people with alcohol and drug problems to seek help. The theme for this year's Week is "Working Drug-Free Works."
The campaign is implemented by DOL's Working Partners for an Alcohol and Drug-Free Workplace program in collaboration with a number of National Planning Partners, including members of the Drug-Free Workplace Alliance, several federal government agencies, and non-profit associations focused on alcohol and drug abuse prevention and/or workplace safety and health.
All organizations are encouraged to participate. It is not too late to get Drug-Free Work Week resources or learn more about how your organization can participate. Visit DOL's Web site at www.dol.gov/asp/programs/drugs/workingpartners/DFWW-Introduction.asp.
