Ergonomics Society Retooling 'The Ergonomist'

Issue 459 of "The Ergonomist," a newsletter offered free to members of the UK's Ergonomics Society, is arriving on members' desks at this time. Their next issue won't be the same: It will have a new name, twice as many pages, more ergonomics content inside, and more color, Managing Editor Tina Worthy announced.

The monthly newsletter was launched in November 1969 under the editorship of Donald Anderson and has had more than a dozen editors since then. At press time, no decision had been made on its new title. She said names that include both "ergonomics" and "human factors" have been considered, "But long names never slip easily off the tongue, so as an alternative, the name could be something totally different. Other organizations have gone down this route, for example HSE's in-house magazine is called 'Express,' and in the case of the International Maritime Human Element, they opted for 'Alert!' The possibilities are endless, so let us know your thoughts now!"

E-mail suggestions to Worthy at [email protected]. She said contributing editors also are needed.
