RAE Systems Fulfills $3 Million-plus National Guard Contract
RAE Systems Inc. announced today that it has delivered more AreaRAE wireless Rapid Deployment Kits to the U.S. National Guard to equip all 57 Civil Support Teams in the United States and its territories with portable toxic gas and radiation detection equipment and RAELink3 portable radio modems. The contract was valued at more than $3 million, the company said.
"Over the last several years, we have seen the National Guard Civil Support Teams deployed for both disaster response and major public venue protection," said Robert Chen, president and CEO of RAE Systems (www.raesystems.com, San Jose, Calif.). "We are proud to have been selected for this second round purchase to further equip the teams and to have our wireless sensor networks provide life-critical and time-critical information."
The rapidly deployable systems are designed to interface with existing AreaRAE systems already in use by the teams, as well as many civilian first responders. The RAELink3 can be configured in the field to operate in multiple modes. When set as a repeater, it extends the radio range of the AreaRAE system and gives the teams the ability to transmit sensor data around obstacles and buildings.
