ATA Conference Focuses on the Economy, Fuel Costs, New Technology

The American Trucking Associations 2008 Management Conference & Exhibition will focus on helping motor carriers prosper in today's bumpy economy.

The 2008 MC&E, scheduled to be held in New Orleans, La., Oct. 4-7, will feature an assessment of the economic outlook from top analysts, tips on boosting fleet fuel efficiency, an informative seminar on the upcoming 2010 engine emissions standards as well as educational sessions on new technology, driver recruitment and how to go green profitably.

The event also will be an opportunity to celebrate the 75th anniversary of ATA, which was founded in Washington, D.C., in 1933 with the merger of the American Highway Freight Association and the Federated Truck Associations of America.

"The current economic environment and the upcoming presidential election make ATA's 2008 annual convention all the more important for our motor carrier members," said ATA President and CEO Bill Graves. "This event is designed to deliver strategies and solutions that will help fleets face today's current operating challenges and thrive."

MC&E is the industry's biggest and best attended showcase of new technologies and business services, with nearly 200 exhibitors displaying everything from new trucks and engines to new software and support services, officials said. To register to attend MC&E, visit http://mce.truckline.com.
