Executive Summit Panel to Convene Tomorrow

Since last summer, ASSE began saying it was expecting its largest turnout ever for its 2008 Professional Development Conference and Exposition, which we're now right in the middle of. Given the political climate this year and the potential for many changes affecting SH&E professionals, the society said it was also expecting more than usual questions from membership to be put to the senior executives participating in the fifth annual Executive Summit, happening tomorrow from 7:45 a.m. to 9 a.m. here in Las Vegas.

ASSE says the Summit is in keeping with Safety 2008's key objective of bringing a wide variety and level of perspectives to conference attendees. The 2008 Executive Summit fulfills that purpose by providing the perspective of leaders at the highest levels of their organizations. This year's panel of executives will discuss their view on the importance of employee safety and health in their organizations and the expectations business and industry leaders have of the safety and health function, ASSE says.

The program will include a moderated panel discussion and a Q&A session featuring questions and concerns ASSE members were invited to send in by May 2.

Starting at the same time and lasting until 4:15 p.m. tomorrow will be the 2008 Academic Forum, a program also designed to focus on issues of importance to SH&E professionals who are involved in teaching and counseling students at the college level, as well as research in safety and health. Eligible attendees include full-time academicians and members of the Academics Practice Specialty.
