BRP U.S. Inc. Recalls Snowmobiles Due to Fire Hazard
BRP U.S. Inc., in cooperation with the U.S Consumer Product Safety Commission, is voluntarily recalling some of its Ski-Doo® Snowmobiles due to fire hazards.
The recall affects about 430 units that were manufactured in Finland and sold at Ski-Doo dealers nationwide from March 2006 through May 2008 for about $10,000. These snowmobiles may pose a fire hazard because friction between the fuel hose and the cylinder head cover can cause the hose to pierce, causing fuel to leak out.
BRP has received two reports of fuel leakage and five additional reports of hose wear. No injuries or property damage have been reported.
The recall involves the following Ski-Doo® models and colors (model names are located on the side panel):
- 2007 and 2008 Expedition TUV V800 Deep Red/Black
- 2007 and 2008 Skandic SWT V-800 Yellow/Black
Previously, the 2007 and 2008 Skandic SWT V-800 Snowmobiles were recalled due to explosion hazard.
Consumers should stop using these vehicles immediately and contact any Ski-Doo dealer to schedule a free repair. Consumers with recalled snowmobiles are being sent a direct notice from BRP.
