PDC Portion of Safety 2008 to Run OSH&E Gamut
You know to expect high afternoon heat in Las Vegas in June, and if you're a return attendee to ASSE's annual Professional Development Conference and Exposition, you also know that, no matter what city hosts the event, you can expect a host of hot topics in the concurrent educational sessions available. Giving a sneak peek at some of this year's lineup, ASSE noted that as of May 12 the top eight sessions attendees had already signed up for included: Creating a Culture Where Employees Own Safety; Motivating Leadership for Safety Excellence: What Really Works; Four Serious, Common, and Persistent Mistakes in Safety Management; Leading Measures for Safety Performance; Creating a Zero Incident Safety Culture: Proactive Metrics Spring to Life; The Magic of Safety Communication and Fun Safety Meetings; Practical Evidence-based Strategies for World Class Safety; and Effective Methods of Managing Contractor Safety to Minimize Risks and Legal Liability.
In addition, ASSE will unveil "The Safety Professionals Handbook" which features 79 chapters, has contributions from more than 250 occupational safety, health, and environmental professionals, as well as 900 ASSE member survey responses. Top safety experts have written chapters on such topics as management of safety engineering work, risk assessment, hazard control, physical hazards from an industrial hygienist perspective, fire dynamics, ergonomics, personal protection equipment, and cost analysis and budgeting.
The Safety 2008 exposition will feature more than 400 organizations including Fortune 500 companies, federal agencies, non-profit organizations such as the American Red Cross and the American Heart Association, universities, colleges, and much more. Last year's ASSE exposition in Orlando broke the society's square-feet-sold record. ASSE expects this year's expo to give that one a run for its money.
