Ohio Comp Board Hosts Forum on Medical Provider Issues
Board members of the Ohio Board of Workers' Compensation (BWC) will host a public forum this morning in Columbus to find ways to improve the quality of medical treatment provided to injured workers. The first 90 minutes of the forum will focus on identifying barriers that keep quality providers from participating in BWC's program and improving delivery of cost-effective health care and return-to-work services, while the final 30 minutes will be an open for um for public comments.
A second forum will be held June 26 on the scope of coverage and level of benefits for medical, vocational rehabilitation, and pharmaceutical services; reimbursement methods for those services; and best practices for ensuring efficient and effective delivery of the managed care process.
BWC provides insurance to about two-thirds of Ohio's workforce. With more than $19 billion in assets, BWC is the largest exclusive state-fund workers' comp system in the United States and the second-largest underwriter of comp insurance in the country.
