EPA to Host Hazardous Waste Cleanup Conference

The Environmental Protection Agency announced today it will host the 2008 National Corrective Action Conference June 3-4 in New Orleans. The event brings together hazardous waste regulators and managers, as well as other stakeholders involved with cleanups to provide a forum for open and frank discussion on corrective action issues and for exchange of information and experiences in streamlining the corrective action process.

"Strategies for Meeting the 2020 Corrective Action Goals" is the theme of this year's conference. The conference will include 18 concurrent breakout sessions, with topics that include Corrective Action 101 (a basic introduction to the Corrective Action Program); Vapor Intrusion, polychlorinated biphenyls (1 session), Green Revitalization (2 sessions), Performance-based approaches to remedy selection, Risk-based cleanups/institutional controls, and more.
