Tour of Reconstructed TWA Flight 800 to Highlight ACSF Symposium
The Air Charter Safety Foundation will hold its 2008 safety symposium--Developing a Healthy Safety Culture--Feb. 19-20 at the National Transportation Safety Board Training Center in Ashburn, Va., just west of Washington, DC. In addition to networking and learning about safety cultures from NTSB Vice Chairman Robert Sumwalt, symposium attendees will be able to walk through the reconstructed fuselage of TWA Flight 800.
“A strong, mature safety culture is not built overnight, and requires dedication to stay effective,” said ACSF Vice Chairman Jim Christiansen of NetJets Aviation. “The safety professionals scheduled to speak at this symposium are world-renowned for their expertise." FAA Accident Specialist Peter Devaris will discuss recent Part 135 accidents and factors. NASA expert James Oberg and Transport Canada expert Jacqueline Booth-Bourdeau will make presentations on their organization's safety management systems, and FAA's Don Arendt will discuss future safety management systems. In addition, industry safety professionals will present "tools you can use" at the event.
