SHRM's President/CEO to Retire in June

Susan R. Meisinger, president and CEO of the Society for Human Resource Management, will retire in June after six years as the society's chief executive, SHRM announced Jan. 8. Meisinger holds the SPHR (Senior Professional of Human Resources) certification; she has worked for SHRM for 20 years.

Meisinger was executive vice president and chief operating officer from 1999-2002, senior VP from 1997-99, and VP of governmental affairs from 1987-97. Milestones during her tenure as CEO include the opening of SHRM's first international offices in India and China, a new brand and logo, a new volunteer leadership structure, and a public affairs campaign to highlight the value of the HR profession. "Susan Meisinger has been a tireless leader for the society and an exemplary advocate for the HR professional," Janet N. Parker, SPHR, who chairs SHRM's board, said in a release written by HR News Senior Editor Beth Mirza that is posted at www.shrm.org. "Her vision has been for SHRM to be the resource of choice for HR professionals at any time in their careers and also for SHRM to be proactive and look to what HR professionals will need in the future. For the past 20 years, Sue's leadership and style has been a model for others to emulate. It's been an honor for me to work with Sue. She will be missed."

SHRM was founded in 1948 and represents more than 225,000 individual members in more than 125 countries.
