NETA to Host PowerTest 2008, Exploring Electric Arc, Cable Testing, More

The InterNational Electrical Testing Association (NETA) is hosting PowerTest 2008 in New Orleans, March 17-20 at the Hilton New Orleans Riverside. The annual conference is designed to promote electrical maintenance and safety and is typically attended by hundreds of industry professionals and students involved with, or responsible for, electrical power systems.

The event will include an in-depth discussion on safety, reliability, and equipment; interactive panel sessions and symposiums; a new product forum; a trade show; and numerous networking opportunities. Half-day seminars are offered on the last two days of the conference at an additional charge and explore Transformer Protection and Power System Testing among other topics. NETA-certified technicians can earn up to 28 CTD credits by attending both opening events and four half-day seminars.

His presentation, "NFPA 70E, OSHA, NESC and Electric Arc Testing: Where Are We Today and Where Are We Going?" will focus on the recent activity with standards making within the electrical safety arena and the impact it has had on businesses. Among other highlights, Wally Vahlstrom of Electrical Reliability Services will chair a panel of cable experts on Tuesday, March 18, discussing the latest developments within the industry on cable testing methods and techniques, the latest IEEE and NEETRAC research and information, and attendees' questions. Also on March 18, the event will feature a trade show from noon to 4:30 p.m., with a buffet lunch provided.
