ASSE: New SH&E Scholarship Up for Grabs

The American Society of Safety Engineers' Region III (which includes Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas) recently announced that the Austin, Texas-based McComb Construction Co. donated $4,000 toward the establishment of a new Region III - McComb Construction Safety, Health and Environmental (SH&E) scholarship. The scholarship will be open to undergraduate and graduate students in the Region III area pursuing studies in the occupational safety, health and environmental, or related, field.

"The new scholarship reflects Region III's continued support of ASSE Foundation scholarships and grants," said Gregory L. Smith, CSP, ASSE Region III vice president. "The scholarship creates a greater connection to educational outreach and the career-building efforts of our ASSE chapters, especially involving our student sections." The award also coincides with the ASSE strategic plan, which supports the advancement of the occupational SH&E profession and emphasizes the society's commitment to protecting people, property, and the environment, Smith added. Individuals and companies who wish to donate additional funds toward the Region III scholarship to further increase educational opportunities for students are encouraged to visit http://region3.asse.org/.
