Washington, Oregon Agencies Issue Heat Safety Advice to Employers

Both state OSHA agencies in Washington and Oregon have issued heat awareness advisories this month urging employers and workes to take precautions during the summer months.

The bulletins advise employers to watch for signs of heat illness at the early stages, before the problem becomes life-threatening. Oregon OSHA's advisory is available in English and Spanish.

Workers on construction sites can be at greater risk for heat-related illness because of heavy exertion, enclosed operator cabs with poor circulation, and prolonged sun exposure, the OR-OSHA document states.
