New Leader Installed for OSHA's Region 6

OSHA's Region 6 -- Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana, and Arkansas -- has a new leader. OSHA said June 11 that is has appointed Dean McDaniel as the region's administrator. He has worked for OSHA for 32 years -- which almost equals the agency's lifespan -- and eight of those years were spent as assistant regional administrators for the region, the agency announced.

"Dean's extensive safety, health, and management experience will help him succeed as he continues OSHA's strong, fair, and effective enforcement; outreach, education, and compliance assistance; and cooperative and voluntary programs throughout Region VI," Assistant Secretary of Labor for Occupational Safety and Health Edwin G. Foulke, Jr. said in the agency's news release. "Through these efforts, employers and employees will better understand how OSHA adds value to their business, work, and life."

McDaniel has previously served as a special assistant to the Assistant Secretary of OSHA, area director of the Dallas and Lubbock, Texas, offices, an a field industrial hygienist in Kansas City, Mo., and Oklahoma City, Okla. He also headed the agency's effort to develop the OSHA Information System, which will replace the Integrated Management Information System that was implemented in 1992.
