NSC Extends Robert W. Campbell Award Deadline

The National Safety Council has extended the application deadline for its 2007 Robert W. Campbell Award to June 30, 2007. The winner of this international award recognizing business excellence in safety, health, and environmental management will be announced at the National Safety Council's 95th Annual Congress & Expo in Chicago on Oct. 15, 2007.

The call for applications seeks successful business models from organizations around the world that excel in both SH&E and business performance. Case studies must demonstrate that measurable achievements in SH&E performance are linked to productivity, profitability, and other measures of business performance. Winning case studies are published and showcased at conferences around the world.

Companies compete by size category. Category I organizations have more than 1,000 employees; Category II organizations employ up to 1,000 people. Each qualified application is evaluated by members of an international review panel representing management, labor, academic, and government perspectives. Each participating organization receives the experts' written feedback.

Past winners of the Campbell Award include off-shore drilling contractor Noble Corp., health care product manufacturer Johnson & Johnson, metals producer Alcan Inc., and U.S. strategic petroleum reserve contractor DynMcDermott Petroleum Operations Co.

Full applications for the award must be postmarked by June 30. Submittal requirements and other information about the award are available at www.campbellaward.org or [email protected].
