Jacobson Wins ASSE Foundation's Distinguished Service Award

The American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE) on June 23 presented the ASSE Foundation's Distinguished Service Award to Karl Jacobson of Boston, Mass. Award recipients are chosen by the foundation chair based on their outstanding achievement, commitment to and support of the ASSE Foundation.

Jacobson played a major role in the development of a corporate giving program and the scholarship endowment program. He also secured funding for the Liberty Mutual Research Fellowship, the Liberty Mutual Scholarship, and the Future Leaders Conference.

"Karl's leadership, commitment, and vision are a few of the reasons why the foundation has flourished over the years," said ASSE Foundation Chair Kennith D. Brock, CSP. "During Karl's seven-year tenure at the Foundation, he served as trustee, chair, and past chair, and worked with the board to increase donations -- raising $2.1 million during the course of his term." An ASSE professional member since 1979, Jacobson is senior vice president for loss prevention at Boston-based Liberty Mutual Group.
