ASSE's Greer Recognized for Lifelong Excellence in Safety, Service
The Society Fellow, the American Society of Safety Engineers' highest honor for life-long excellence in safety and service, was bestowed on M.E. "Eddie" Greer, CSP, OHST, of Sugar Land, Texas, at an induction ceremony during the annual Professional Development Conference and Exposition -- Safety 2007 -- at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla.
Nominated by their peers, candidates for the award are selected based upon their work and involvement in ASSE and long-term contributions in advancing the safety profession.
Greer, a past president of ASSE, is president and owner of Eddie Greer & Associates, a safety and health consulting company specializing in safety and health process reviews, program development, "cold-eyes project evaluations," culture surveys, training and education, as well as expert witness testimony, the society said.
Retired from Kellogg Brown & Root/KBR after 31 years of service, he currently chairs the Society Professional Conduct Committee. Greer was honored as the Gulf Coast Chapter Safety Professional of the Year in 1987 by the Texas Safety Foundation's Gulf Coast Chapter.
