97,000 Halogen Table Lamps Recalled for Short Circuit
If it seems that too many of the recent recalls of products from the U.S. market involve products manufactured in China, that's no illusion. The Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a recall May 9 of about 97,000 halogen table lamps imported by L G Sourcing Inc. of North Wilkesboro, N.C., and sold at Lowe's stores from April 2006 to March 2007 for about $10. The lamps were manufactured by Winsource Industries Ltd. of Hong Kong, CPSC said.
They can short circuit and thus pose a fire hazard. L G Sourcing has received one report of a minor fire involving one the lamp; there was no injury.
The recalled lamps have a plastic base and two extendable arms connecting the base to a halogen lamp. They were sold in white, red, blue, orange, and purple. Consumers should stop using them immediately and return them to any Lowe's outlet for a full refund. For more information, contact L G Sourcing at 866-284-9162.
