Safety Speaker to Emphasize the Danger of Shortcuts

For anyone in an industry long enough to know everything about it, the temptation to take shortcuts is an ever-present danger. For Charlie T. Morecraft, who had more than 15 of refinery experience and knew safety regulations like the back of his hand, his experience worked against him and gave him every confidence that taking shortcuts wouldn't cause anything to go wrong. That all changed in 1980 when Morecraft survived a near-fatal jobsite accident at an Exxon refinery, which he says took five years of his life.

Now, a world-renowned safety speaker, Morecraft will be the General Session speaker at the American Society of Concrete Contractor's (ASCC) Annual Conference, Sept. 13-17, 2007 in Charlotte, N.C., at the Westin Charlotte.

The three-day conference will feature business and technical speakers, demonstrations, roundtable discussions, and a ACI flatwork finisher certification class and exam on Saturday, Sept. 15.

Morecraft's presentations are particularly suited for owners, managers, superintendents, foremen, safety directors, and laborers of concrete and general contracting companies; producers; and pumping companies.

ASCC is a non-profit organization with approximately 550 member companies in six countries, including the United States, and is dedicated to enhancing the capabilities of those who build with concrete, and to providing them a unified voice in the construction industry. For more information call the ASCC office at 1-866-788-ASCC (2722) or go to www.ascconline.org.
